About liz

Hi I’m Liz :)

I didn’t find yoga for the exercise or the aesthetic’s of advanced asanas. I found it through real life hardship— working long hours, navigating change, and craving something deeper from life. I started doing yoga in 2017 and my practice has become so much more than just movement for me. Yoga has become a way for me to get comfortable being uncomfortable, slow racing thoughts, and relax my nervous system. Over time, that personal passion has turned into creating experiences for others to also come back to themselves.

I’ve spent years working in restaurants, traveling, and learning about wellness. I’m very multifaceted— from harvesting cacao and studying culinary arts to cooking as a private chef for retreats. I don’t believe in putting ourselves in boxes and my retreats are a unique combination of everything that I love and have had experience with: nourishing meals, intentional movement, and beautiful destinations.

My retreats aren’t about perfection or performance. They’re a chance to reconnect with your body, meet like minded women, explore new places, and let yourself relax because that’s literally my dream week while traveling. Rising Soul Retreats are a space where we can do that together!

2019

I grew up and lived my entire adolescence in Virginia Beach, VA. When I was in high school I had thyroid cancer which gave me a lot of free time to dream about creating a better life for myself and started my deep rooted passion for wellness. I discovered Abraham Hicks and dove into learning about the law of attraction which shifted my mindset about life. My biggest dream has always been to live in a tropical environment so the week after I graduated high school I flew to the Big Island, Hawaii and work traded on an off grid, raw vegan fruit farm for 3 weeks. The farm, Kanekiki, was in Pahoa and it opened me up to an entirely new world. I was meeting a lot of free-spirited long term travelers and I didn’t even know that people could do that. This trip opened my eyes and changed the trajectory of my life. I spent the next 2 years in community college in Virginia Beach while also working in a restaurant and flipping thrift finds on Depop to save money to travel long term. I could not stop thinking about traveling again.

2021

When I finished community college, my intuition told me to go to Costa Rica. I found Nosara and booked 2 months at a hostel that ended up being the best time of my life. I met so many amazing people, including my boyfriend who I am still with today.

After I met my boyfriend, we spent another 2 months traveling all over Costa Rica together and I did a border run to Bocas Del Toro, Panama to renew my visa in between. Then we decided to go to Mexico to escape the rainy season in Costa Rica so we spent a month in Puerto Escondido then a month in Sayulita before splitting ways.

I went home to Virginia Beach, VA and he went home to Venice Beach, CA. I spent 6 months at home and visited LA 3 times before making the cross country move to be with him in 2022. We spent 6 nights driving cross country stopping in Asheville, Nashville, Dallas, Albuquerque, Scottsdale, and Palm Springs then we landed in Venice Beach, CA.

2022-2024

I moved to LA with no connections and no job experience besides serving in restaurants. I slowly worked my way up into serving at some of the most popular restaurants on the Westside and learned how to read people, how to work under pressure, and serving gave me really thick skin. I also spent a few years as an independent distributor for Enagic selling Kangen Water machines. I was apart of several online platforms that provided social media marketing trainings and live zoom calls for high ticket online sales which taught me how to sell online. The Kangen Water communities started to grow and host retreats so I catered 2 retreats as a private chef. During this time I also experienced personal ups and downs just like anyone else and my yoga practice was the one stable thing in my life. This has given me experience on my mat that most people my age don’t have. Point being, everything has led me here to hosting retreats. Between my customer service experience, online sales background, cooking for retreats, travel history, and my longterm yoga practice, hosting retreats has come really naturally to me. Everything leading up to the launch of my retreats felt like a puzzle piece but I didn’t know what the puzzle was going to look like. These few years were a true representation of that surrender to something bigger than me and taking inspired action.

2025

4 years after meeting, my boyfriend and I decided to get a puppy together. We named her Rosi after the local Costa Rican “soda” in Nosara, where we first met. We had an apartment next to Rosi’s and would eat there every morning and looking back, It’s crazy to see how one thing can lead to another. You never know what decision, conversation, or action will lead you to living a completely different life. When we met at the hostel in 2021, neither of us had plans to be there. I was temporarily staying in the dorm until my private room was available and he showed up because he randomly had a flight credit that was about to expire so he booked the first hostel that popped up online. I don’t believe in coincidences… Now we have this whole life together in California and have grown so much over the years.

2025-2026

My boyfriend and I visited Nosara for Valentine’s day in 2025 and after a yoga class at Bodhi Tree, I decided that I was ready for my 200hr yoga teacher training. I wanted it to be in Nosara so when I found Nexus, I whole heartedly knew that it was the one. I completed the November 2025 200hr YTT from Nexus Institute Yoga & Wellness in Nosara, Costa Rica and made so many amazing friendships there. We spent 3 weeks together in yoga school during the week and had weekends off to explore. This was truly such a special and memorable experience. I believe that everything happens for a reason and I know that I was meant to be at this specific training, at this time, with these people, because of the connections that I made. This training also started a ripple effect and led me to hosting my first retreat in Pavones in March 2026.
