Meet Liz

I went to Costa Rica for the first in 2021 with a 40L backpack and a dream to solo travel. I had a 90 day visa and spent the first month in a local town before I found Nosara on accident. I immediately knew that it was the place that I had always been looking for. Nosara has a way of attracting people when it’s the right time for them. I booked 2 months upfront at a Selina hostel to finish out my visa there but they didn’t have my private room ready for 2 weeks so I had to stay in a co-ed dorm at first. That’s the dorm where I met my boyfriend from California (who I am still with) while he was on vacation. I encouraged him to come back and travel with me so within 2 weeks he was back and those 2 months at Selina Nosara were hands down the best time of my life. I met such amazing people from all over the world and got really clear on the life that I wanted to live which included spending time in Nosara in my life I just didn’t know how. I went on a “border run” to renew my visa in Bocas Del Toro, Panama but couldn’t wait to get back to Nosara because that has always been my special place. I spent a 4th month in Costa Rica with my boyfriend in Nosara until rainy season hit then we spent 2 months in Mexico together.

After 6 months in Latin America, I ended up moving cross country to California in 2022 to be with my boyfriend that I met in Nosara. I spent the first 3 years in LA confused about what I could do for work that would give me the lifestyle that I wanted to live in Costa Rica. I never took my eyes off of Nosara. I even took multiple trips to Santa Teresa and Pavones, Costa Rica to ensure that Nosara really is THE special place and truly nothing compares to the Blue Zone magic of Playa Guiones.

I visited Nosara again in February 2025 which is when I decided that I was going to do my yoga teacher training there. I completed my 200hr YTT that same year from November - December 2025 at Nexus Yoga Institute & Wellness with the main intention to host yoga retreats. I met someone at my YTT who helped me get started with retreats and I hosted my first retreat at their house in the south of Costa Rica in March 2026 for 5 girls.

I visited Nosara after that retreat and found Norte literally by just walking by and seeing the yoga shala. I walked in and whole heartedly knew that it was the place that I was going to host my retreats. It checked every single box from being in the ideal location to being a small business. Only 4 months after graduation my YTT, I booked 2 retreats at Norte because I knew with 100% certainty that I was divinely guided there. When I spent my 4th month in Costa Rica in 2022, it was at an apartment directly next to the Norte property and I was living there when Norte was being built… I also used to have a website with a logo that was the flower of life, just like Norte’s logo. There’s just been so many synchronicities that have shown me that this is what i’m meant to be doing and this is the exact place that I am meant to be doing it at. I’m so grateful for everything that time in Nosara has given me so it brings me immense joy to share the magic with everyone who comes on my retreats.

I created Rising Soul Retreats because I wanted to experience a women’s yoga retreat that is truly adventurous. I wanted to leave the resort to experience the country and skip all of the cringey “women’s circles” because sometimes the most healing thing you can do is just HAVE FUN. My retreats are a way to start walking the walk instead of living in the echo chamber of self help that’s making you believe that you always have “more to heal.” We’re not going to sit in a circle and talk about being brave and confident, we’re going to climb up waterfalls and jump off the top of a boat together. We won’t sit around talking about connecting with our inner child, we’re going to deep belly laugh with the girls and play in the tide pools like kids again.

Each day is a different chakra theme and I try to align the activities of the day with the chakra like our sound bath on heart chakra day, our boat day on throat chakra day, and our dream life workshop on third eye day.
